Dr. Ward is originally from Smithtown, NY. He graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in 1997 with High Honors and the George C. Alexander Excellence in Chemistry Award. He received a Bachelors in Marine & Environmental Sciences. After commission, Dr. Ward served as a law enforcement and deck-watch officer on the USCGC DURABLE (WMEC 628). He was then stationed at the Coast Guard's Marine Safety Office Tampa. He was awarded the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and Special Operations Ribbon.
Following 5 years of active duty, Dr. Ward attended Yale School of Medicine. He graduated in 2006 with the Farr Scholar for leadership and excellence in basic science research, and the Miriam Dasey Award for fulfilling the ideal of compassionate physician.
He completed Internal Medicine Internship & Residency at Maine Medical Center in 2009. For the past 16 years, Dr. Ward has practiced in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings in rural and urban areas of Maine, Michigan, New York and Connecticut. He has held regional and national leadership roles, teaches others and supervises health care providers.
Dr. Ward has extensive experience in primary care. He's comfortable managing complex medical patients with compassion, keeping them home and keeping them out of the hospital. As a hospitalist, Dr. Ward cares for inpatients on medical/surgical units as well as the ICU. Both in person and remote, Dr. Ward delivers world-class care to you that is based on the latest research. He is a member of the
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Ward is interested in philosophy and its impact on faith and culture.
Dr. Ward has participated in medical mission trips to Honduras and Iraq, serving displaced peoples and those without access to care. He has been a member of his local school board and is a regular speaker on science and faith at the local church level. He has taught philosophy of science at a regional youth conference and was the 5-year host of a radio program that discussed health related topics from a faith perspective.
Dr. Ward speaks at the state legislature, and has written OpEds for local media outlets and given press conferences. He promotes free speech and religious liberty and believes that all people have intrinsic human dignity. He advocates for evidence-based medicine, and believes that the pursuit of truth underpins the scientific enterprise.
Dr. Ward believes that we must protect the vulnerable and promote meritocracy if we are to restore health care to its original calling. He stands against abortion, IVF, surrogacy, gender affirming care for minors, and physician assisted suicide.
